​​BCST 0060 is a non-credit course taken prior to entering the full time TV and Video Production full-time diploma program. This course is part of the admissions process for the program. The purpose is to familiarize students with the fundamentals of the program. In addition, it assesses basic proficiency with the technical aspects of the program. Successful completion of either this course or BCST 1160 is a requirement for Admission to the full-time diploma program.​

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain the basics of photographic composition using techniques such as (lines of force, patterns and texture, rule of thirds, action axis, use of colour, etc.).
  • Take still photos on a cell phone, DSLR, or disposable camera which utilize the basics of photographic composition and submit them electronically on D2L (Learning Hub) utilizing a specified naming convention.
  • Construct a short visual story with a beginning, middle, and end using sequences of still photographs illustrating described composition techniques.
