By earning your Advanced Business Management certificate, you’ll gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to enhance your career or prepare you to complete a Business Administration diploma. Throughout this program, you’ll complete the required core courses to earn your certificate and then choose from a range of electives which include advanced courses from the Business Administration diploma.

About Part-time Studies
Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that’s right for you.
Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there’s space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).
To apply to a Part-time Studies program and earn your credential, you simply need to complete a Part-time Program Declaration Request. Applications are processed throughout the year.
To be successful in BCIT’s fast paced applied learning environment, it is strongly recommended that students have English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success. For information on English equivalencies, testing and upgrading options, visit:

The following must be completed prior to completion of the Certificate in Advanced Business Management:- Post-secondary education: a BCIT Certificate in Business Management
Recommended for success
It is recommended that prior to starting this program students have successfully completed the following:
- English: two years of education in English in an English-speaking country with one of the following:
- English 12 (67%) or
- 3.0 credits of post-secondary English, humanities or social sciences (67%) from a recognized institution
What if I don’t meet these English requirements? - Math: one of the following:
- Math 11 (67%) or
- OPMT 0199 - Math for Business (67%) or
- OPMT 0198 - Business Math Assessment Test (67%)
International applicants
This program is available to international applicants who currently have a valid status in Canada. A valid study permit is required prior to starting the program.
Program declaration
Declaring your Flexible Learning (Part-time Studies) program ensures that BCIT is aware of your intent to complete a program as it is currently outlined and provides you the opportunity to apply for transfer credit.
To submit your declaration:
- Answer all questions completely.
- If required, convert transcripts and documents to PDF files.
- Have a credit card ready to pay the application fee.
Declare Now
Upon approval, a program plan letter will be sent to you confirming your program of study. Please allow approximately eight weeks for processing.

Bring your own device
Most courses and programs in the School of Business + Media are BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Please ensure you bring a laptop to every class. Plug-in outlets will be provided at most stations in classrooms, but not in all classrooms, so please ensure you have at least 2 hours of battery life available at the beginning of each class. Check the following recommended computer requirements prior to the start of class. If a program or course does not require you to provide your own device, that information will be provided by your instructor or indicated in the course outline.
For online classes, it is important you have a stable and consistent internet connection to access course content.

Program Details
By earning the skills and hands-on experience through this certificate program, you’ll be preparing yourself for business leadership and management. BCIT is well known for giving you the relevant, practical skills you need for a successful career.
The focus on entrepreneurial thinking includes giving you a broad range of topics and electives throughout almost every area of business, including accounting, economics, marketing, business law, communications, and more. And by diversifying your knowledge, you’ll be preparing for career success, whether it’s with a traditional employer or by starting your own company.
Additionally, earning your Advanced Business Management certificate prepares you not only for advancement in your career, but also to continue your education for even more career opportunities and earning potential. Many students continue to earn their Business Administration diploma.

A minimum of 90 credits is required to complete the program. Credits earned in the Business Management certificate program can be used towards the 90.0 credit requirement.

Because of the flexibility of this part-time program, you might currently be working while you train for more effective management and business skills. By completing the advanced certificate, you’ll be preparing for leadership roles in business, whether it’s through your existing company or as you begin an exciting new career.

- Marketing Coordinator
Additionally, you may choose to begin your career immediately upon graduation, or choose to broaden your career skills and education by transferring your course credits toward earning your Business Administration diploma.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, complete an Application for BCIT Credential [PDF] and submit it to Student Information and Enrolment Services.
Allow approximately six to eight weeks for processing.
All financial obligations to the Institute must be met prior to issuance of any credential.
