Overview
Please visit our Forensic Health Science page for information about our range of offerings, including microcredentials.
Appropriate application of forensic principles has become an important component of overall patient care when the patient is a victim of trauma, sexual assault, violence or crime. The clinical management of such victims must include not only the obvious aspects of health care, but also elements of forensic significance such as the collection and protection of evidence, effective communication with law enforcement (and other agencies), and compliance with standards required in a forensic or legal investigation. The Forensic Health Sciences program is designed for health care workers involved in forensic examinations as well as for the law enforcement, legal and scientific professionals that must interact with them during a forensic investigation.
If you’re interested in forensic nurse examiner education or individual courses, please visit our courses and workshops page.

After completing the Graduate Certificate, continue on to a Master of Science in Nursing – Forensic Nursing online through Aspen University. Two courses – FSCT 9810 and FSCT 9820 – are transferable for credit towards the Masters. These two foundational courses provide the Canadian medicolegal context for Forensic Health Sciences, allowing Canadian RNs to understand the Canadian context, but also obtain a Masters degree not currently available in Canada. The program is 100% online and fairly affordable.
