Employee Excellence Awards

This award recognizes an employee who has surpassed the expectations of the Institute, its staff or students during the past year (April through March) by seizing an opportunity to do more than what was asked of them – going the extra mile – while demonstrating a positive attitude, using strong judgment, and utilizing good communication skills.

The four recipients will be awarded $1,000 each.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award recognizes a department that has surpassed the expectations of the Institute, its staff or students during the past year (April through March) by seizing an opportunity to do more than was asked of it – going the extra mile while demonstrating a positive attitude, using strong judgment, and utilizing good communication skills.

The Teaching Excellence Award is presented to a day school and PTS Instructor from each of BCIT’s schools, who has exemplified teaching excellence in their field during the past year (April through March).

The recipients will be awarded $1,000 each. In addition to the annual recognition celebration, instructors are also recognized at the Spring Convocation.

Nominations are adjudicated by a Committee organized by each School.

The award recognizes an individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing learning and teaching at BCIT through educational innovation and has been a champion for excellence in teaching beyond their own classroom in the past year (April through March).

The recipient(s) will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a Committee organized by each School.

This award recognizes an outstanding contribution in terms of advancement of knowledge or advancement of economic and/or societal well-being, that has been made through the development, application and/or implementation of technology during the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000 for professional development purposes.

Nominations are adjudicated by the Research Award Committee.

This award recognizes an individual or group at BCIT that is new to research and has made an outstanding contribution in terms of advancement of knowledge or creation of a new research program, through the development, application and/or implementation of technology during the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000.

The Leadership Award is presented to four BCIT employees, one from each employee group, who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities during the past year (April through March).

The four recipients will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award recognizes a cross-functional group or task-teams that has made a significant contribution to BCIT’s business processes, student success or employee morale during the past year (April through March).

The recipient team will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award recognizes an individual or team who has enhanced BCIT’s position as a leader in environmentally sustainable practices during the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award is for teams or individuals who have embraced the principles of the BCIT inclusivity philosophy by promoting an environment that is collaborative, understanding and of mutual respect during the past year (April through March).

The recipient(s) will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

This award is for a team or individual who took the initiative to improve the value and efficiencies of the services BCIT provides in the past year (April through March).

The recipient(s) will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award is for a team or individual who has consistently gone above and beyond without fanfare during the past year (April through March).

The recipient(s) will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from each of BCIT’s employee groups.

This award is given to an individual or group whose actions have positively impacted the wellbeing of other BCIT community members. The actions of this person or group have created environments that promote positive mental health, reduce stigma, ease distress, and foster interpersonal connections. Overall this individual or group has been a catalyst that has positively influenced the health, safety, and satisfaction of other members of the BCIT community in the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by the Student Wellbeing Steering Committee.

This award recognizes the outstanding contributions of a BCIT staff or faculty member who has gone to great lengths to assist either an individual international student, a group or other stakeholder(s) or project(s) / initiative(s) related to international study at BCIT during the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by a committee consisting of representatives from the International Department.

The award recognizes teaching excellence in open education during the past year (April through March).

The recipient will be awarded $1,000.

Nominations are adjudicated by the Open Education Committee.
