Support for Online Courses

The Learning Hub can be accessed by any popular internet browser. Please verify your browser before you login for the first time. The browser verification ensures your system will be able to view and use the online learning environment.

The Learning Hub is not affected by most security programs, but sometimes Internet Explorer’s default settings prevent windows and files from opening. The Learning Hub works best with Google Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

After logging in to the Learning Hub, you will see a list of all the courses in which you are registered. Click the title of the course you want to access.

To return to the list of courses from anywhere in the Learning Hub, click the “My Home” link at the top of the page (above the BCIT logo).

For term-based courses, you should be able to access your course by 8 a.m. on the start date of the course.

For continual intake courses, your online access is granted when your registration has been processed or when the Program Assistant has updated the class list.

Are you using the correct username and/or password? If you’ve double-checked your credentials and are still having trouble, you can use the Student Information System to search for your BCIT ID, or contact the Technology Service Desk (see contact information below).

Different internet browsers download files in different ways, but clicking a link to a file usually creates a prompt that gives you the option to “Open” or “Save”.

To download the file, click Save, and then browse to the folder where you want to save the file.

You may need to specify a name for the file in the “File Name” field. For example, if the file is called assignment 1 (attachment) .doc .attch change the file name to assignment1.doc.

To start the download, click Save.

Do you have the appropriate software installed that is needed to view the file? For example, if the attached file name ends with the DOC extension, you will need Microsoft Word installed to open the file.

If a file name ends with a TXT extension, you can open it in any word processor package like Notepad or WordPad. The latter two both come with the Windows operating system.

If the file name ends with a PDF extension, you will need the free Acrobat Reader to open the file.

Online course support is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are extended to 7:30 p.m. during the first 2 weeks of term start.
