Our new Centres will be places to learn, innovate and co-create.
Flexible programs and learning spaces will allow students, educators, researchers, and industry partners the ability to transform spaces to suit a project’s needs. The focus on applied learning will create an adaptive and collaborative working environment.
We will also enliven the campus with new greenways and bike lanes, on-campus housing and public spaces. These will help create stronger connections with our environment and with each other. The urban ecological restoration of Guichon Creek will bring a weaving waterway to life across campus and become an iconic symbol of BCIT’s sustainability.
Health Sciences Centre
Projected to open in fall 2022, the Health Sciences Centre will be a foundation for the future of healthcare in the province. This integrated and comprehensive centre will contribute to the training of nearly 7,000 new healthcare professionals each year, and advance progressive clinical practice education through sophisticated simulation, modern classroom technology, and interprofessional practice.
Trades & Technology Complex
A showcase for the future of learning at BCIT, the Trades & Technology Complex will become an adaptive, world-leading trades education environment. Anchored by the Concert Properties Centre for Trades and Technology building, this multi-building complex will combine state-of-the-art workshops, simulation lab space, maker spaces, and a reconfigured works yard to empower students and faculty to collaborate across disciplines and push the boundaries of knowledge — in concert with industry.
Centre for Ecological Restoration & Climate Adaptation (CERCA)
CERCA will be a global Centre of Excellence, advancing the quality and quantity of skilled environmental technicians, biologists, and land managers responsible for monitoring and restoring our lands, waterways, and climate. As a critical hub for 21st Century ecological restoration and climate adaptation education and research, the centre will make a global impact on sustainability through research, collaboration and innovation.
Centre for Education, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Research
As the go-to hub for accessing expensive equipment and expertise for projects and research, a new Centre for Education, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Research will centralize services and resources to support and advance the BCIT education experience. The centre will engage students, faculty and the broader community in a variety of service points in one location, including a revitalized library, learning commons, new entrepreneurship centre and more.
Student Hub
The Student Hub will be a central location for all BCIT students to get inspired. A welcoming oasis, where students from all faculties will come together to share in the ability to think freely, collaborate, engage, debate, associate, challenge and improve — anything and everything — all for the greater good of a better future.
Guichon Creek
The daylighting of Guichon Creek will restore an important ecosystem, and become an iconic symbol of sustainability, increasing connection with our environment and providing green space within our bustling campus. It will also serve as a living lab for a multitude of fields, becoming a shared and interdisciplinary piece of infrastructure.
